Invisalign clear aligners are a series of clear plastic trays custom-fitted to your mouth. Each one is designed to straighten and align your teeth gradually. Depending on your treatment plan, you change them out every two to three weeks.
They are removable and invisible, making them a good choice for people who want straighter teeth without having to wear noticeable, traditional braces.
You wear Invisalign aligners most of the day and night but remove them for eating, drinking, and brushing your teeth. This flexibility makes Invisalign an improvement over traditional metal braces, which make eating certain foods and dental hygiene difficult.
Invisalign aligners are available for adults and teenagers. They can treat a wide range of smile problems including:
But severe cases of any of these conditions may mean that Invisalign is not the right choice for you. Even so, there are very few people who can’t benefit from Invisalign. A consultation with Wright Dental can help determine if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign.
With traditional braces that an orthodontist or dentist applies to your teeth, your only responsibility is to clean them. With Invisalign aligners, you must wear them 22-23 hours a day, taking them out and putting them back in after you eat and brush your teeth. Failure to wear the aligners for the specified length of time can affect your results. If you have a teen who you think might cheat and not wear the aligners as prescribed, they might not be a good candidate for Invisalign.
One of the other benefits of Invisalign is that you can see the slow progression to straighter teeth as you change out your trays. The length of time you need to wear them depends on your teeth and the severity of your dental issues.
As with traditional braces, minor changes can take less than a year. More dramatic changes can take two years. During your consultation, Wright Dental can give you an idea of how long your treatment will take.
